The nation was stunned when conservative activist Charlie Kirk, 31, was fatally shot during a public event. Now, former President Donald Trump is promising that those responsible—and those funding radical left violence—will face justice.
In a powerful video statement on Truth Social, Trump called Kirk a “patriot” and a “martyr for truth and freedom,” praising him for inspiring young Americans on college campuses nationwide. “Charlie was the best of America, and the monster who attacked him was attacking our whole country,” Trump said. “An assassin tried to silence him with a bullet, but he failed, because together we will ensure that his voice, his message, and his legacy will live on for countless generations to come.”
Trump directly linked Kirk’s murder to the dangerous rhetoric of the radical left, warning that demonizing political opponents “day after day, year after year” can lead to deadly consequences. “For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today. And it must stop right now,” he declared.
The former president vowed to use the full resources of his administration to track down not only the attackers but also the organizations and individuals funding and supporting political violence. He cited a history of left-wing attacks, including the 2017 shooting of House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, assaults on ICE agents, and other politically motivated acts of terror.
“This is a dark moment for America,” Trump said, urging unity around the principles that Kirk championed: free speech, civic responsibility, rule of law, and patriotic devotion. The message was clear: those who try to silence Americans through violence will face justice.
