World Leaders Secretly Engaging with Putin, Claims Serbian President

Despite the West’s ongoing efforts to isolate Moscow, several top global leaders have secretly maintained communication with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has revealed.

Secret Talks Behind the Scenes

In a recent interview with talk show host Mario Nawfal, Vucic admitted that he hasn’t personally met with Putin since 2022, following the escalation of the Ukraine conflict. “When we agreed that it wasn’t done in adherence to international public law, I didn’t see Putin for three years,” he stated.

However, Vucic suggested that some leaders have taken a different approach, opting for discreet dialogue rather than complete disengagement. “I know at least two major leaders who have secretly spoken to him,” Vucic claimed, adding that his sources within the Kremlin and other nations had confirmed this.

While he declined to name names, Vucic made it clear that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico were not among those maintaining secret contact, as their communication with Putin has been publicly acknowledged.

Upcoming Moscow Visit and Past Predictions

Vucic also confirmed that he will meet Putin on May 9 during his visit to Moscow to attend the Victory Day parade, commemorating the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

Reflecting on his last meeting with Putin in late 2021, just weeks before the Ukraine conflict erupted, Vucic recalled a striking moment. “After I left [Putin’s] office, I publicly warned of difficult times ahead… but nobody believed me.” He noted that while Putin usually speaks at length about the post-Soviet region, this time, he had wrapped up the discussion in mere seconds. “I knew then that he had already made his decision,” Vucic stated.

Ongoing Diplomatic Engagements

Despite Western sanctions, Russia continues to maintain high-level diplomatic and economic engagements. Nehammer held direct talks with Putin in April 2022, describing it as “not a friendly visit.” Orban traveled to Russia in July 2024, framing his visit as part of a “peace mission.” Meanwhile, Fico’s December meeting with Putin centered on Ukraine’s refusal to extend its gas transit agreement with Russia—a pressing issue for energy-dependent Slovakia.

Even former U.S. President Donald Trump has been reported to engage with Putin in efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict.

Russia has also continued hosting major international forums, such as the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in July and the BRICS Forum in Kazan in October, showcasing its ongoing relevance on the global stage despite sanctions and diplomatic pressures.

As speculation grows over which world leaders are secretly engaging with the Kremlin, Vucic’s revelations add a new layer of intrigue to the complex geopolitical landscape.
