On Friday, former White House Chief Medical Adviser Anthony Fauci dismissed criticism from Twitter owner Elon Musk as disinformation and conspiracy theories.
” Fauci’s comments came after Musk hinted that documents related to Fauci could be released in the near future. Fauci, who was the public face of the White House’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic and stepped down as the head of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases on December 31, stated that he was not “concerned” about Musk’s tweets. Fauci was also asked about Musk’s tweet in which he stated “my pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci.”
Fauci stated that he did not “have a clue” what Musk meant and that he did not “understand what he’s doing.” Fauci has faced criticism from Republicans for “unnecessarily” strict lockdown recommendations and suspicions that he lied about the origins of Covid.
He was also criticized for a research grant the US National Institute of Health gave to a virology laboratory in Wuhan, China, where Covid was first detected.
