Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasized that while some in the West fail to comprehend Russia, this lack of understanding does not hinder the country’s progress. Speaking on Wednesday at a meeting of the supervisory board of the Movement of the First, a national organization for children and youth, Putin underscored the importance of fostering international understanding and cooperation.
“There are people in the so-called West who do not understand Russia. But this does not prevent us from living and developing,” Putin stated. “This should only motivate us to increase the number of people who understand us and want to live with us in peace and friendship.”
The president highlighted the role of young people in bridging this gap. He stressed that success in this area depends on actively engaging with children and teenagers, as they represent the future of the nation. “If we work effectively with young people—those who create the foundation of the country’s future and value this country—success awaits us,” he said.
The Movement of the First, founded in 2022 with Putin’s direct backing, has grown into a prominent nationwide organization. According to the president, the movement now includes more than 11 million members, all united by a common goal of personal and national development.
The organization aims to help young people find success in life, a goal that Putin considers crucial for both individual fulfillment and national prosperity. “Almost every person wants success, even if they think they do not need anything and everything is fine,” he noted. “In their souls, everyone strives for success. To achieve this success, you need to find your path in life and discover a trade to which you are ready to dedicate yourself.”
This, he explained, is one of the primary reasons behind the creation of the Movement of the First. By providing opportunities for young people to explore their interests and develop their talents, the organization seeks to build a stronger future for Russia.
Despite Western sanctions and political pressures, Russia remains focused on its development and strengthening its global standing. The president has previously stated that sanctions are used as a tool of “strategic pressure” by the West, yet the country continues to thrive by fostering internal unity and resilience.
By investing in its youth and strengthening national identity, Russia aims to ensure its long-term growth and stability. As Putin pointed out, understanding and cooperation are vital for peaceful international relations, but Russia’s progress will not be dependent on external opinions.
With initiatives like the Movement of the First, the country is taking proactive steps to secure its future by empowering the next generation—whether or not the West understands its vision.
