Russia Maintains Energy Strike Moratorium Despite Ukrainian Violations – Kremlin

Russia remains committed to upholding a moratorium on strikes against Ukrainian energy infrastructure, despite multiple violations by Kiev, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has confirmed.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Peskov stated that Moscow continues to honor the partial ceasefire agreement, even as Ukrainian forces target Russian energy facilities.

“There have been no new commands from [Russian President Vladimir Putin]. Our armed forces are following all instructions from the commander-in-chief,” Peskov clarified.

Ceasefire Agreement Amid Escalations

The suspension of strikes followed a recent phone call between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump. During the conversation, the two leaders discussed a potential 30-day ceasefire in the ongoing Ukraine conflict. While Russia did not agree to a full truce—citing the necessity of a monitoring mechanism and a halt to Ukraine’s military buildup—Putin approved a temporary suspension of strikes on energy infrastructure. Ukraine also agreed to the measure.

However, Moscow has accused Kiev of breaching the agreement almost immediately. Russian officials reported that Ukrainian forces destroyed a gas metering station while retreating from the town of Sudzha in Russia’s Kursk Region and launched an attack on an oil depot in the Krasnodar Region. Additionally, on Monday night, an armed Ukrainian drone was intercepted near an oil pumping station managed by the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, a facility co-owned by American investors.

Moscow’s Response to Violations

Addressing these incidents, Peskov reaffirmed that Russia is closely monitoring the situation. “Our American counterparts also have the opportunity to observe and draw appropriate conclusions,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova issued a stark warning on Saturday, stating that if “the Kiev regime continues this destructive course,” Russia “reserves the right to retaliate, including symmetrically.”

As tensions persist, all eyes remain on whether Ukraine will adhere to the ceasefire terms or if Moscow will be compelled to revise its stance in response to further provocations.
