On February 17, 2025, Delta Air Lines Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-900, was arriving from Minneapolis with 76 passengers and four crew members on board. During the landing at approximately 2:15 p.m. local time, the plane flipped upside down on the runway. Despite the severity of the incident, all 80 individuals survived. Eighteen passengers sustained injuries, including one pediatric patient; however, none were reported to be in critical condition.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, with assistance from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. Weather conditions at the time included heavy snow and strong winds, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph, which may have contributed to the accident.
The incident led to a temporary shutdown of airport operations, causing significant flight delays and cancellations. Emergency response teams promptly evacuated all passengers and crew before the aircraft caught fire. This event marks the fourth major aviation accident in North America within a three-week span, raising concerns about air travel safety in the region.
