Israel’s Gaza Offensive Condemned by International Community as Death Toll Soars and Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

The Israeli army has achieved nothing in its assault on Gaza and has instead drawn the ire of the interational community, spokesman for the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, HAji Mohammad Afif, has claimed in an exclusive interview with RT. As Israel presses on with its intense offensive againnst the Palestinian territory, aiming to dismantle the Hamas militant organization, tensions continue to escalate. This comes after Hamas launched a sudden attack on Israeli border towns on October 7, resulting in the deaths of 1,200 individuals and the capture of 240 hostages.

The Israeli military actions in Gaza have led to a devastating human toll, with over 18,700 fatalities, including numerous children, and more than 50,000 injuries, reported by health officials in the region.

The military campaign conducted by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) against Hamas has yet to yield a declaration of triumph, and the most notable consequences of their efforts have been widespread devastation and the loss of innocent lives, according to a spokesperson for Hezbollah.

The consequences of this development will be far-reaching in terms of how the international community perceives Israel, according to the speaker. They pointed out that the United States is currently the only country that openly supports Israel, and even then, it stands alone in its stance.

The global reaction to Israel's action is "difficult to ignore," Mohammad Afif pointed out. The bloodshed in Gaza has even prompted the UN to invoke so-called Article 99 for the first time in decades. This allows the secratary general to bring to the attention of the UN Security Council any matter which he believes may threaten international peace and security.

On Thursday, the head of the UN's Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, also stated that Israel's assault on Gaza had left the enclave unfit for human habitation.

"Every time I go back [to Gaza], I always think it can not get worse, but every time I see more misery, more grief, more sadness, and have the feeling that Gaza is not really a habitable place any more," the UN official told reporters, calling for the immediate cessation of the Israeli siege.
