Is Biden’s Jobs Comment a Gaffe or a Genuine Belief? Does the President Really Think You Need a High School Diploma?

In a stunning revelation during his recent speech, President Joe Biden suggested that "African American and Hispanic workers" might not need high school diplomas. The nation is left wondering: Is this a gaffe or a genuine belief? Could it be that President Biden thinks diplomas are overrated? Perhaps he's onto something, and we should all consider ditching our education for a brighter future. After all, who needs those fancy diplomas when you have a knack for hot takes?

More on this below. Keep Reading.

The White House found itself in a position of damage control once again when President Joe Biden sparked controversy with remarks made during a speech. The President faced online backlash after a video of his statement went viral, with some accusing him of making "racist" comments.

Biden delivered these comments while discussing his economic policies, often referred to as "Bidenomics," in a speech at Prince George's Community College in Largo, Maryland. He claimed, "We've created 13.4 million new jobs and not only recovered all the jobs lost during the pandemic but also added millions more."

The contentious remarks came when Biden discussed the record-low unemployment rates, emphasizing his focus on African-American, Hispanic, and veteran workers without high school diplomas. He stated, "We've seen record lows in unemployment, particularly — and I've focused on this my whole career — particularly for African Americans and Hispanic workers and veterans, you know, the workers without high-school diplomas. The lowest unemployment rate in 70 years for women now."

Biden's comments triggered widespread online backlash, with many accusing him of racism. Attorney Aaron Walker criticized Biden, saying, "I keep saying I am almost 51 years old, and Joe Biden is the most explicitly racist president in my lifetime."

National GOP spokeswoman Madison Gesiotto Gilbert reacted with disbelief, exclaiming, "Nooo, he didn't 🫣😣."

Representative Burgess Owens (R-UT), who is black, also expressed his disappointment, stating, "Another day, another racist comment from Biden. Crickets from the mainstream media." This sentiment was echoed by many on social media.

Some Twitter users pointed out that the corporate media would have reacted strongly if former President Donald Trump had made a similar remark.

In response to the backlash, Biden's handlers attempted to correct his comments by quietly editing the transcript of his speech. They added the word "and" after "African American, Hispanic, and veteran workers" to make the statement appear less controversial. According to the updated White House transcript, Biden said, "We've seen record lows in unemployment particularly — and I've focused on this my whole career — particularly for African Americans and Hispanic workers and veterans, you know, and the workers without high school diplomas."

Later in his speech, Biden also mentioned using considerations of race and gender when making appointments to his cabinet and judicial nominations. He stated, "You know, and, by the way, when I got elected, I promised that I wanted an administration that would look like America. I got more women in the Cabinet than any president has ever in history. And I got more women — more women than men in the Cabinet. And I put more black women on the appellate court and the Supreme Court than every other president combined in American history."
