Fake News’ Fabricated Putin Meeting Delay – Trump

US President Donald Trump has forcefully rejected media reports alleging that his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, experienced significant delays before meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Trump dismissed the claims as entirely false, labeling them as yet another example of "fake news."

"The Fake News, as usual, is at it again!" Trump declared in a post on Truth Social on Saturday, insisting that Witkoff faced "no wait whatsoever" before meeting with Putin.

His comments came in response to a Sky News report on Friday, which claimed that Witkoff had been "left twiddling his thumbs for at least eight hours before being called into the Kremlin." The story quickly spread across multiple media outlets.

Witkoff traveled to Moscow on Thursday to deliver details of recent US-Ukraine discussions held in Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, Putin expressed openness to a US-proposed 30-day ceasefire but underscored the need to address several key issues before proceeding, including the situation of Ukrainian forces encircled in Russia’s Kursk Region.

In his Saturday post, Trump clarified that "other meetings with other Representatives of Russia did take place and, obviously, they took some time, but they were very productive."

"From there, things went quickly and efficiently, and all signs seem to be, hopefully, very good! In conclusion, there was no nine-hour wait, or any wait at all!" he wrote.

Trump accused the media of deliberately distorting the timeline of events in an attempt to discredit his administration. "They fabricate stories to try and demean, because they are sick degenerates who need to start reporting the news correctly," he asserted.

Witkoff, a prominent real estate mogul and long-time Trump associate, has recently taken on high-profile diplomatic responsibilities, including efforts to broker peace in the Ukraine conflict.

Both US and Russian officials have conveyed cautious optimism about the prospects for a ceasefire. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged that challenges remain but noted that the discussions marked a constructive step toward resolving the conflict.
