Canada’s Warpath: Is NATO Turning Us Into Cannon Fodder?

It starts with a headline, a promise, a big flashy number: $9 billion more for defence. After years of decay under Trudeau, Canada’s military—once respected—is barely a shell of itself. So when Mark Carney pops up like a saviour and announces we’re finally hitting NATO’s 2% GDP defence spending target five years ahead of schedule, you’d think it was cause for cautious optimism.

But scratch the surface and the rot stinks even more.

Because here’s the real kicker: by the end of this month, NATO is expected to raise the bar again. Not 2%, but 3.5%, with another 1.5% in "related spending" tacked on. This isn’t just budgeting. It’s an arms race.

And the reason? According to NATO head Mark Rutte—and echoed faithfully by Carney—Russia might invade Europe in the next few years.

Let’s be brutally honest: this is war propaganda dressed up as policy. Putin, for all his bluster, has neither the capability nor the suicidal intent to invade NATO territory. What we’re watching unfold isn’t preparation—it’s provocation. A buildup for a war that no one in their right mind should want.

And Canada? We’re being dragged along like obedient foot soldiers in someone else’s proxy war.

This isn’t about defending our nation. It’s about feeding NATO’s offensive machine, about funneling billions into endless conflict while our veterans sleep in shelters, our borders go ignored, and our own infrastructure crumbles.

Ask yourself: who really benefits from this kind of spending spree? Spoiler: it’s not you. It’s not Canadians. It’s weapons contractors, global elites, and war-hungry strategists playing chess with real lives on the line.

If NATO has truly abandoned its defensive mission and morphed into a pretext for global aggression, then maybe it’s time to reconsider our role in it. Because the path we’re on leads not to security—but to ruin.
